It’s pronounced Tuck-son
Yesterday I got an email titled “24 Hours in the Old Pueblo”. Since the race is coming up in a week and a half I figured it was a press release of some sort so I opened it up and instead I found an invitation to an all expense paid trip to come race on a last minute team that was being put together. Uhhh… yes please!
I called Candace to run it by her and she asked where it was and I said “Tucson” (as in I ‘tuck’ in my sheets and I have a ’son’). She laughed and corrected me and told me not to call it that while I was there because people would point and laugh.
So anyway… I’ve done a total of zero 24 hour races and have never been to Arizona so this should be a thrill. It’s a good thing I’ve been getting a lot of riding in lately.
Oh yeah, and I asked Kerkove about the race and he assured me it was a huge event complete with “nude Wookies”.
I hope they’re hot.

Hey Tim…
if you are going to the 24hrs of OP… be sure to say hi to my Evomo team mates, Walker Thompson (regular contributor to yourMTB.com) and Matthew Connors. They are both racing.
Also my friend Brendan will be there showing off his new protoype frames from his startup company SIREN Bikes. He has a dope hardtail that runs a 29er in the front and a 26 in the rear. Very interesting and worth a look for sure.

my 3 tips for 24 hr racing…
- buy a big pack of “baby wipes” to clean off your grimmy body parts after each lap.
- dont be cheap on the fire wood (or propane tanks) bring lots!
- eat like 7 Gu type gels before each lap!
